What happened

Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to the Tenant causing undue damage to the rental unit and seriously impairing the safety of others in the residential complex. The Landlords alleged the Tenant caused extensive damage, left combustible materials throughout the unit, and disabled the smoke detector.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective January 15, 2021. The Tenant must vacate the rental unit by that date. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $186 for the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by December 29, 2020, they will owe simple interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance starting December 30, 2020.
