What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant had not paid the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from May 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020. The Tenant vacated the unit on August 14, 2020.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective August 14, 2020, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $2,273.35, which includes $2,083.35 in rent arrears and the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by January 15, 2021, the Tenant will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
