What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the rent they owed. The Tenants were in possession of the rental unit on the date the application was filed but did not pay the total rent they were required to pay for the period from December 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021. The Tenants vacated the rental unit on February 28, 2021.

The ruling

The Tenants shall pay the Landlord $1,536.92, which represents the amount of rent owing up to February 28, 2021, less the rent deposit. The Tenants shall also pay the Landlord $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owing by October 4, 2021, they will start to owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
