What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant failed to pay rent from May 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective June 9, 2021. The Tenant did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated, and the Tenant must vacate the unit by January 18, 2022. The Tenant is ordered to pay $3,247.47 in rent arrears and compensation up to January 7, 2022, plus $17.69 per day from January 8, 2022, until move-out. The Tenant must also pay $186.00 for the application filing cost. The eviction order can be voided if the Tenant pays $3,828.00 by January 18, 2022.
