What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant had not paid the total rent required from May 1, 2021 to January 31, 2022. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective January 21, 2022.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective February 28, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $18,438.80 to the Landlord or the Board in trust on or before February 28, 2022. The Tenant must pay $14,068.48 to the Landlord for rent arrears and compensation up to February 4, 2022, less the rent deposit and interest. Additionally, the Tenant must pay $73.20 per day for compensation starting February 5, 2022, until vacating the unit, plus $186.00 for the application filing fee.
