What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to wilful damage to the premises and impaired safety. The Tenant had vacated the rental unit prior to the hearing.

The ruling

The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $282.50 for the cost of replacing the lock on the unit door, and $87.50 representing one-half of the Landlord's cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by October 6, 2020, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest at 0% annually on the outstanding balance.
