What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from January 1, 2020 to May 1, 2021. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on May 1, 2021.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective May 1, 2021, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to pay $11,265.55 in rent arrears and $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by December 14, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
