What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent. The application was filed after serving a valid Notice of Termination with effective termination date August 25, 2020. The tenants had not paid the total rent they were required to pay for the period from August 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021.

The ruling

The Tenant shall pay to the Landlord $177.25, the balance remaining for the cost of filing the application. If any further payments were received by the Landlord from the Tenants between the time of the hearing and the order issuance date, the amount owing shall be credited accordingly. If the Tenants do not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before July 7, 2021, the Tenants will start to owe simple interest calculated from July 8, 2021 at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
