What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord failed to meet the Landlord's maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The Tenant's application was uncontested, and the Landlord did not attend the hearing.

The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenant a rent abatement of $141.66 and $53.00 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $194.66. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by March 14, 2022, the Landlord will owe simple interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
