What happened
The Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlords harassed, obstructed, coerced, threatened or interfered with them and substantially interfered with the reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit or residential complex. The Tenants also applied for an order determining that the Landlords failed to meet their maintenance obligations. The Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenants because the Landlords require possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation.
The ruling
The Landlords' L2 Application was withdrawn. The Tenants were awarded a rent abatement of $1,587.62 and $50.00 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $1,637.62 owed by the Landlords. The Landlords must pay the full amount by January 18, 2022, after which interest will accrue at 2.00% annually on any outstanding balance.
