What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent and because the Landlord requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenant remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The Landlord's application for the N12 notice of termination was dismissed, but the Landlord's application for the L9 non-payment of rent was granted. The Tenant was ordered to pay the Landlord $1,660 in rent arrears and $186 for the filing of the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by October 2, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
