What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent. The Landlord also applied for an order to terminate the tenancy due to persistent late payment of rent and claimed costs for damages to the rental unit.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective October 31, 2020, the date the Tenants vacated the rental unit. The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $14,831.06 in rent arrears and compensation, plus $575.18 for damage to the rental unit, and $190 for the application filing fee. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by May 8, 2021, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
