What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants because the Landlord intends to demolish the rental unit. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective August 23, 2021. The Tenants must move out of the rental unit by that date. The Tenants shall pay the Landlord $4,168.66, which represents compensation for the use of the unit from February 1, 2021 to August 12, 2021, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlord owes on the rent deposit. The Tenants shall also pay the Landlord $24.66 per day for compensation for the use of the unit from August 13, 2021 to the date they move out, and $186.00 for the cost of filing the application.
