What happened
Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant and Occupant because the Tenant transferred occupancy of the rental unit to the Occupant in a manner not authorized by the Residential Tenancies Act. The Landlord also applied for an order that the Occupant pay compensation for the use of the rental unit.
The ruling
The Occupant is required to pay the Landlord $10,640.83, which represents compensation for the use of the unit from October 1, 2019 to February 5, 2020 and the Landlord's filing fee. If the Occupant does not pay the full amount by March 3, 2020, she will owe simple interest calculated from March 4, 2020 at 3.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
