What happened

The Landlords applied for an order permitting the rent charged to be increased by more than the guideline for one or more of the rental units in the residential complex due to an extraordinary increase in municipal taxes and charges. The application was initially denied, but the Landlords requested a review and the order was replaced.

The ruling

The Landlords may increase the rents charged by 0.44% for the units set out in Schedule 1 within the time period of April 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020. The portion of the Landlords' application seeking an above-guideline rent increase due to an extraordinary increase in municipal taxes and charges to take effect during the period January 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021, is dismissed.
