What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant did not pay the full rent owed from September 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021, and the Landlord served a valid Notice of Termination. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit on the application date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 31, 2021. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $2,774.34, which includes rent arrears and application costs, less the rent deposit and interest. The Tenant must also pay $40.27 per day for compensation starting August 12, 2021 until move-out. If the Tenant pays $4,965.84 by August 31, 2021, the eviction order will be void and the tenancy will continue.
