What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent and because the Landlord requires possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective May 31, 2021. The Tenants must move out by this date and pay the Landlord $39.45 per day in compensation from March 23, 2021 until the move-out date. If the full amount is not paid by April 2, 2021, the Tenants will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance. If the unit is not vacated by May 31, 2021, the Landlord may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office for eviction.
