What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the rent they owed. The Landlord served the Tenants with a Notice to End Tenancy Early for Non-payment of Rent (N4 Notice), but the Board determined that the service was defective. The Landlord then requested to convert the application to an L9 application for arrears of rent only, acknowledging that the Board would not issue an eviction order.
The ruling
The Board ordered the Tenants to pay the Landlord $10,086, which represents the rent arrears and the Landlord's filing costs. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by February 10, 2023, they will start to owe interest at 5% annually on the outstanding balance.
