What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The application was filed after the Landlords and Tenant entered into a mediated agreement at the initial hearing on December 20, 2021, for payment of the arrears owing by the Tenant of $1,500.00, including the filing fee, up to December 31, 2021. The Tenant missed the March 15, 2022 payment as required by the mediated agreement.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of March 31, 2022. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $900.00, which represents the amount of rent owing in accordance with the prior mediated agreement. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by June 27, 2022, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest calculated from June 28, 2022 at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
