What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy because Tenant abandoned the rental unit. The Tenant has not paid rent since December 2020 and the Landlord has been unable to contact the Tenant, who appears to have left the country in November 2020.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated because the Tenant has abandoned the rental unit. The Tenant must pay the Landlord $186 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by October 19, 2021, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
