What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to Tenant's wilful damage to the rental unit and residential complex, as well as seriously impairing the safety of others.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective January 18, 2022. The Tenant was ordered to pay the Landlord $5,000 for the damage, $1,139.51 for compensation of use of the unit, and $26.30 per day from January 14, 2022 until the Tenant vacates. The Tenant was also ordered to pay the $186 application fee. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by January 18, 2022, they will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
