What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant did not attend the hearing. The Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective August 13, 2021, due to rent arrears from May 1, 2021, to January 31, 2022.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective January 30, 2022, unless the Tenant voids the order by paying $10,170.47 on or before that date. The Tenant must pay $9,842.07 for rent arrears and compensation up to January 19, 2022, plus $31.23 per day from January 20, 2022, until move-out. If the unit is not vacated by January 30, 2022, the Landlord may file the order with the Sheriff for enforcement.
