What happened

Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to undue damage to the rental unit and substantial interference with the Landlords' reasonable enjoyment. The Tenants had vacated the unit prior to the hearing.

The ruling

The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlords $11,906.83 for the cost of repairing the damage caused by the fire, as well as $186 for the application filing fee. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount by October 10, 2021, they will start owing interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance. If the unit is not vacated by October 10, 2021, the Landlords may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office for enforcement.
