What happened
The landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict the tenant due to the tenant's failure to meet a condition specified in a mediated settlement issued by the Board on December 17, 2019 with respect to a previous application. The tenant failed to pay the monthly rent for March 2020 and the rent arrears on March 1, 2020.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated effective August 24, 2020. The tenant must pay the landlord $9,605.72, which represents the rent owing up to August 13, 2020 and the costs related to the previous application, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The tenant must also pay the landlord $41.57 per day for compensation for use of the unit starting August 14, 2020 until the tenant moves out. If the tenant does not pay the full amount by August 24, 2020, the tenant will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance starting August 25, 2020. If the unit is not vacated by August 24, 2020, the landlord may file the order with the Court Enforcement Office (Sheriff) for enforcement.
