What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The application was filed after serving a valid Notice to End Tenancy Early for Non-payment of Rent (N4 Notice), which the tenant did not void by paying the arrears. The tenant was still in possession of the rental unit on the hearing date.
The ruling
The tenancy will be terminated on March 31, 2023 unless the Tenant pays $1,687.80 to void the order. If the Tenant does not void the order, the Tenant must pay $936.90 to the Landlord and will owe $24.69 per day in compensation starting March 1, 2023 until the Tenant moves out. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owed by March 26, 2023, the Tenant will start owing interest at 5% annually on the outstanding balance.
