What happened

The Landlord applied for an order to increase the rent charged by more than the guideline due to an extraordinary increase in the cost of municipal taxes and charges. The Tenants, Joanne Fenlon and Domonique Landry, submitted responses raising maintenance issues, which were considered to the extent possible under the legislation.

The ruling

The Landlord may increase the rents charged by 0.75% for municipal taxes and charges for the units set out in Schedule 1, within the time period of May 01, 2019 to April 30, 2020. This increase may be taken in addition to the annual guideline in effect on the increase date for the units.
