What happened
Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlords harassed, obstructed, coerced, threatened or interfered with them and substantially interfered with the reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit or residential complex. The Landlords hired contractors to redevelop adjoining land, which resulted in the Tenants' property being damaged and their reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit being substantially interfered with.
The ruling
The Landlords shall pay the Tenants $1,500 for harassment and interference with reasonable enjoyment, $1,500 for damages to their property, and $50 for the application filing fee, for a total of $3,050 to be paid by March 31, 2021. If the Landlords do not pay by the due date, the Tenants may deduct the outstanding amount from their rent.
