What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants because the Landlords in good faith require possession of the rental unit for the purpose of residential occupation for the Landlords' mother-in-law. The Landlords testified that they wish to move the mother-in-law into the rental unit because she has medical and functional issues and needs to be closer to the Landlords' residence to receive ongoing care.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlords and the Tenants is terminated, and the Tenants must move out of the rental unit on or before July 31, 2022. The Landlords shall pay the Tenants $1,515.88 representing the last month's rent deposit and interest owing on the deposit. The Tenants shall pay the Landlords $49.32 per day for compensation for the use of the unit from August 1, 2022 to the date the Tenants move out.
