What happened

Landlord applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent. The Tenant did not pay the full rent from October 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020, and the Landlord served a Notice of Termination effective January 15, 2020.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective May 31, 2020, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $4,875.74, which includes rent arrears up to the move-out date and compensation, less the rent deposit and interest on the deposit. The Tenant must also pay $175 for the application filing fee.
