What happened
Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on May 31, 2021, prior to the hearing date.
The ruling
The tenancy is terminated as of November 11, 2019, the date the Tenant gave vacant possession of the rental unit to the Landlords. The Tenant shall pay the Landlords $3,227.23, which represents the amount of rent owing and compensation up to May 31, 2021, less the rent deposit and interest the Landlords owe on the rent deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlords $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by September 5, 2021, the Tenant will start to owe simple interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
