What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay rent owed. The application was amended to an L9 application solely for arrears of rent and the filing fee. Tenants vacated the rental unit on September 30, 2022, and did not pay the total rent required from June 1, 2022, to September 30, 2022.

The ruling

The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlord $5,665.17, which includes rent arrears and the cost of the application, less the rent deposit and interest owing. If not paid by April 3, 2023, interest will be charged at 5.00% annually on the outstanding balance starting from April 4, 2023.
