What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlords have collected or retained money illegally. The Landlords sold the residential complex and gave the Tenant a notice of termination on behalf of the purchaser. The Tenant moved out, but the Landlords refused to pay the equivalent of one month's rent as compensation, claiming the Tenant owed rent.
The ruling
The Landlords are ordered to pay the Tenant $850.00 in compensation for moving out, and $53.00 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $903.00. If the Landlords do not pay the full amount by March 5, 2022, they will owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
