What happened

Landlords applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to non-payment of rent. The Tenants had vacated the rental unit on August 23, 2021, prior to the hearing date. The Tenants failed to pay rent from February 1, 2021 to August 23, 2021.

The ruling

The Tenants are ordered to pay the Landlords $12,836.58 for rent arrears from February 1, 2021 to August 23, 2021, plus $186.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the full amount is not paid by January 18, 2022, interest will be charged at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance starting from January 19, 2022.
