What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlords have collected or retained money illegally. The Landlord served the Tenants with an N12 Notice of Termination for personal possession, and the Tenants vacated the unit as a result. However, the Landlord did not provide the required compensation to the Tenants.

The ruling

The Landlords are ordered to pay the Tenants $1,530.00 as compensation for serving the N12 Notice of Termination, and $50.00 for the application filing fee. If the Landlords do not pay the full amount by December 5, 2021, they will owe interest at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
