What happened
Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenants due to failure to pay rent. The application was filed after serving a valid Notice to End Tenancy Early for Non-payment of Rent (N4 Notice), which the tenants did not void by paying the arrears. One of the tenants, Rima Nair, had vacated the rental unit prior to the hearing.
The ruling
The Landlord's application was granted. The Tenant was given an extension to pay the full rent arrears of $10,711 by January 3, 2022 to void the order. If the Tenant fails to make the required payments, the stay of the previous order will be lifted on January 3, 2022 and the Tenant will start accruing 2% annual interest on the outstanding balance.
