What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay the rent they owed. The Tenants were in possession of the rental unit on the date the application was filed and did not pay the total rent they were required to pay for the period from April 1, 2020 to July 31, 2020.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated on August 4, 2020. The Tenants shall pay the Landlord $5,981.37, which represents the amount of rent owing up to August 4, 2020, and $201.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owing by March 6, 2021, they will start to owe simple interest calculated at 2.00% annually on the outstanding balance.
