What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations regarding large trees on rental units/lots and in common areas of the complex. The issue concerns the maintenance and safety of these trees.

The ruling

The Board granted a 25% rent abatement to each Tenant for October 2014 and April to June 2015, with continuing abatement from April 1st to October 31st each year until the Landlord complies with the previous order. The Landlord must pay the specified amounts to each Tenant by June 21, 2015, or the Tenants may deduct it from future rent payments.
