What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenants to pay compensation for the money they should have paid had they not misrepresented their income or the income of a member of their family. The Landlord also claimed compensation for each day the Tenants remained in the unit after the termination date.

The ruling

The tenancy between the Landlord and the Tenants is terminated on December 5, 2020. The Tenants shall pay the Landlord $10,745.44 as compensation for the use of the unit from April 11, 2020 to December 5, 2020, and $175.00 for the cost of the application. If the Tenants do not pay the full amount owing by April 30, 2022, they will start to owe simple interest calculated from May 1, 2022 at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
