What happened

Landlord applied for an order to collect rent owed by the Tenant. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit on the date the application was filed but did not pay the full rent for March 2021. The property was sold to Starlight Investments on March 31, 2021, but the former Landlord retained the right to collect any arrears accrued prior to the sale.

The ruling

The Tenant is ordered to pay the Landlord $1,000 in rent arrears and $201 for the application filing fee. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by January 30, 2022, they will start owing simple interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
