What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant was not present or represented at the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective August 31, 2020, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $8,510.23, which represents the rent arrears up to August 31, 2020 and the NSF cheque charges, less the rent deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $190.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount owing by October 16, 2020, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
