What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent owed. Tenant had vacated the rental unit on January 17, 2022, prior to the hearing date. Tenant did not attend the hearing despite proper service of notice.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective January 17, 2022. The Tenant is ordered to pay $3,473.35 to the Landlord, which includes rent arrears up to January 31, 2022, and the cost of the application, minus the rent deposit. If payment is not made by August 16, 2022, interest will start accruing at 3.00% annually.
