What happened

Landlord applied for an order to terminate the tenancy and evict Tenant due to failure to pay rent. The Tenant was in possession of the rental unit on the date the Landlord filed the application, but the Landlord's representative advised that the Tenant was found deceased the day before the hearing.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated effective June 17, 2021, 30 days after the Tenant's death was discovered. The Tenant's estate must pay the Landlord $4,374.34, plus $27.29 per day starting May 26, 2021 until the unit is vacated. If the full amount is not paid by June 17, 2021, the Tenant's estate will owe interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
