What happened
Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord failed to meet maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006, resulting in a flood in the Tenant's unit. The Tenant could not stay in the unit due to the flood and mold, and incurred expenses for storage of belongings.
The ruling
The Landlord shall pay the Tenant $978.13 for reasonable out-of-pocket storage expenses, and $50 for the cost of filing the application, for a total of $1,028.13. If the Landlord does not pay by the due date, the Tenant may deduct $200 per month from the rent until the amount is paid in full.
