What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that the Landlord failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The issue was related to damaged kitchen cupboards in the rental unit.

The ruling

The Landlord shall arrange an inspection of the kitchen cupboards and carry out complete repairs by July 31, 2021. The Landlord shall pay the Tenant $45.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Landlord does not pay the Tenant by June 18, 2021, the Landlord will owe interest or the Tenant may deduct the amount from the rent.
