What happened

Tenants applied for an order determining that the Landlords failed to meet their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 or failed to comply with health, safety, housing or maintenance standards. The issue was a backed up kitchen sink in the rental unit.

The Landlords breached their maintenance obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act, 2006 with respect to the plumbing issue. The Tenants are entitled to a rent abatement of $156.12 for the period of July 9, 2020 to July 27, 2020, and the Landlords must also pay the Tenants $48.00 for the cost of filing the application.
