What happened

Landlords applied to terminate the tenancy and evict the Tenant due to non-payment of rent, damage to the rental unit, and substantial interference. The Tenant had not paid rent from January 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021, and the Landlords served a Notice of Termination. The Tenant also caused damage to the rental unit by breaking a window.

The ruling

The tenancy was terminated effective August 31, 2020, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant is ordered to pay $7,031.43 to the Landlords, which includes rent arrears, compensation, the cost of filing the application, and the cost to repair the damage to the rental unit.
