Tenants applied for orders determining that the Landlord collected or retained money illegally and substantially interfered with their reasonable enjoyment of the rental unit.

The ruling

The Landlord is ordered to pay the Tenants $4,500 for excess rent and rent deposit, as well as $50 for the cost of filing the application. The Landlord must also provide compliant rent receipts to the Tenants. If the Landlord does not pay the full amount by December 9, 2017, the Tenants may deduct the outstanding balance from their rent over the next few months.
