What happened

Tenant applied for an order determining that Landlord harassed, obstructed, coerced, threatened or interfered with the Tenant; substantially interfered with reasonable enjoyment; withheld or interfered with vital services; and collected or retained money illegally. The dispute arose from a failed rental agreement where the parties did not reach a final agreement, and the Tenant sought return of the rent deposit.

The ruling

The Board ordered the Landlord to pay the Tenant $1,295.00, consisting of the $1,250.00 rent deposit and $45.00 for the cost of filing the application. If not paid by June 28, 2015, interest would accrue at 2.00% annually from June 29, 2015.
