What happened
Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from September 1, 2019 to August 26, 2020. The Tenant moved out of the rental unit and returned vacant possession to the Landlord on August 26, 2020, the end of the lease term.
The ruling
The Tenant shall pay to the Landlord $11,439.23, which represents the amount of rent owing up to August 26, 2020 less the rent deposit and the interest owing on the deposit. The Tenant shall also pay to the Landlord $190.00 for the cost of filing the application. If the Tenant does not pay the Landlord the full amount owing on or before November 24, 2020, the Tenant will start to owe interest at 2.00% annually on the balance outstanding.
