What happened

Landlord applied for an order requiring Tenant to pay the rent that the Tenant owes. The Tenant vacated the rental unit on August 20, 2021 and did not pay the total rent the Tenant was required to pay for the period from February 1, 2020 to August 20, 2021.

The ruling

The tenancy is terminated as of August 20, 2021, the date the Tenant vacated the rental unit. The Tenant shall pay the Landlord $7,714.06, which represents the rent arrears up to August 20, 2021, less the rent deposit and interest owed on the deposit. The Tenant shall also pay the Landlord $190.00 for the application filing cost. If the Tenant does not pay the full amount by November 15, 2021, the Tenant will start owing interest at 2% annually on the outstanding balance.
